Out of print for nearly five years, Telephono and Soft Effects are now available digitally! With amped-up acoustic guitars, jumpy song structures, and a punk attitude, Telephono (1996) was the shot across the bow from Austin's fledgling rock heroes. The follow-up, Soft Effects (1997), features five of Spoon's strongest songs and marks a leap forward in the band's repertoire, signaling the great things to come on subsequent Spoon albums.

With a history of stellar records, Spoon has topped themselves with Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, a thrilling album recorded throughout 2006 in Austin by the band and Mike McCarthy (except 'The Underdog', recorded in Los Angeles with Jon Brion). Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga starts with 'Don't Make Me a Target', a song that builds on Spoon's familiar minimal rhythmic piano/guitar vamp popularized on earlier hits like 'Small Stakes' or 'The Way We Get By'. The album quickly moves into uncharted territory with the atmosphe [ read more ]

In 1998, Spoon released it's second full-length 'A Series of Sneaks' on Elektra Records. Magnet magazine called that record 'one of the best rock LP's released this decade.' The band was soon dropped by Elektra however, less than four months after the release of 'Sneaks'. This two-song CD is somewhat of a response to the experience. A bit more grown up, but with just as much spirit as their earlier material, this recording shows that Spoon just keep getting better, and are not going away. [ read more ]
