The Joggers
Hailing from Portland, the Joggers sashay like their New York City indie rock counterparts. Darrell Bourque (vocals/bass), Murphy Kasiewicz (vocals/guitar), Jake Morris (drums), and Ben Whitesides (guitar/vocals) came together in 2001 after playing in various local bands. The quirky-pop foursome derived a heavy, rollicking sound. Their song "The Devil Wears Earplugs" marked the Joggers' official debut on the Startime Supercuts compilation in early 2003. The Joggers' latest oddball masterpiece, With a Cape and a Cane, is noticeably free of Pro-Tools effects and mix-down wizardry, and this rawness is exactly how the Joggers like it. Raw with incredible chops, With a Cane and a Cape hits you with a guitar-god-like riffs mixed with slacker-punk attitude, and oddly, incredible precision.
