The music of Brooklyn's Yeasayer is an eclectic, genre-bending journey into pop, rock, Middle Eastern and African musics, folk, and dub. Vocalist/keyboardist Chris Keating and vocalist/guitarist Anand Wilder were both raised in Baltimore, where they honed their vocal skills in a barbershop quartet and played in a high-school band, Sic Transit, before leaving town to attend different colleges. Yeasayer wrote and layered songs for their upcoming release, , during the white winter months of Feb-Apr '09 in upstate NY. Out of these sessions came 'Ambling Alp,' which is the first single for . A stand out from their recent live set, the band reworked the song into its former incarnation: a pop anthem. This single contains remixes by friends Memory Tapes and DJ/rupture and is Yeasayer's first release on US label Secretly Canadian.
