Although the material on Douglas' initial outing may seem somewhat routine these days, it's actually quite notable considering it preceded the actual fruition of disco. The perennial "Doctor's Orders" alone would make this a classic, but the quality is far from limited to that track. Carol Douglas' soft, reedy vocals haven't impressed everyone, but she could sing disco floaters ß la "Midnight Love Affair," as well as anyone with her cute sexy voice. Her vocal shortcomings, however, become painfully obvious on uptempo numbers. She just didn't have the power of a Gloria Gaynor or a Donna Summer to deliver on "Headline News" and similar disco boogies.
