`The Best of Missing Persons was the band's first retrospective, and unlike the later, single-oriented comps, it draws a broader picture of the Los Angeles new wave act's three albums and one EP. This budget-priced Missing Persons collection features most of the new wave/dance pop acts' biggest hits ("Destination Unknown," "Walking in L.A.," "Words," "Mental Hopscotch"), but it suffers from the inclusion of a (dance mix) version of "Give" and the exclusion of the terrific "I Like Boys." "Greatest hits remixed"-type discs tend to be of no consequence whatsoever, but in the case of Missing Persons' Walking in L.A.: The Dance Mixes, there are a few tracks that might actually hold the interest of some fans. Released by Hypnotic, the compilation does have several clunkers, yet some notable remixes come from Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes (who is assisted by Warren Cuccurullo), Bauhas' Kevin Haskins, and the Mission UK's Wayne Hussey.
