Cannonball Adderley had struggled unsuccessfully with a quintet between 1955 and 1957, giving up for a time to play with Miles Davis' group. After seven years with Capitol, Cannonball Adderley switched labels to Fantasy where he reunited with producer Orrin Keepnews and the quality of his music immediately improved.
