Wind in the Wires is the next chapter of Patrick's story, and it leads us down to the wild ancient landscapes of the West Country to the sound of night trains, plucked pianos and gypsy strings. It's sound and feel is a great step forward from his debut Lycanthropy and solidifies a more extended style both vocally and musically for young Patrick (now 21 years old). On this LP, he plays all instruments (bar a contribution from his father) and sings all vocals (bar a contribution from his sister on 'Teignmouth') on viola, violin, baritone and soprano ukelele, piano and reed organ amongst other things. All songs are performed, produced, programmed and arranged by Wolf himself.

User Reviews

Patrick Wolf is one of most ingenious artists, dare I say, ever. With his hoard of instruments including (but not limited to) Viola, Violin, Vocal Chords, Grand Piano, Baritone Ukulele, Bass Guitar, Accordion, Sine Wave Bass and Electric Guitar while also siting other ''instruments'' such as: October Rain, November Gails, AM Radio, Sea Birds, Foot Steps, Wind, Whistling and Electricity; Patrick is diverse (understatment) and immensely original (another understatment). His music is beyond what words can say. From the first moment I heard this album I knew it would be something that would change my view of music, forever. He is a little bit of everything, with his laptop and all of his instruments, he is very flexible. Each song has a different quality from the last and is as enjoyable (if not moreso). This album for me was not only the most enjoyable of all the albums that came out this year but was musically the most important in what it could do for the future of music and the impact it could have. If leader of the world, I would make it mandatory that every person have this album. As this is not the case, all I can do is encourage people to get it. Do yourself the biggest favour of the year and buy this CD... or at least hear it.
