Strange Geometry (CD)
The Clientele, London's purveyors of lush melodies and gorgeous hazy pop are back with 12 new tracks of dreamy folk, shimmering psych guitars and string arrangements by Louis Philippe . Strange Geometry was recorded with producer Brian O'Shaughnessy at Bark Studios, Walthamstow, and is the Clientele's second proper full-length album; following 2003's Violet Hour and 2001's debut singles compilation Suburban Light. "Aggressively, gratuitously lovely, modernizing the chambery charms of Love's 'Forever Changes', The Zombies, and Galaxie 500" - Spin.

| Strange Geometry is the best record, so far, by The Clientele. It's incredibly melodic and charming. Most of the songs tend to sound very much alike, but that's because they have a distinctive style, a well traced route (kinda like Galaxie 500). It's not repetitive, it's cohesive. Many of the songs contain the same elements (lots of reverb, picked chords...) which translates into a familiarity and a recognition that the listener, in time, will appreciate deeply. | |
