Red Devil Dawn is the third full-length from Crooked Fingers, and the first to be released on Merge Records. Crooked Fingers is the latest project from one of the rock underground's most enigmatic songwriters, Eric Bachmann. Eric got his first bit of recognition as the front man for the Archers Of Loaf, one of the most popular and critically lauded bands of the mid-to-late '90s underground scene. With the release of Red Devil Dawn, we witness the continued growth of Bachmann as a singular artist, carving out his own niche in the rock 'n' roll universe. The songs here are a bit more intricate than in the past, with the addition of horn and string arrangements, and seem to have a bit more space and breath to them. However, Bachmann's signature throaty croon still weaves intricate tales of desperation, betrayal, loss, and survival.
