Frame and Canvas (CD)
REISSUE. Frame and Canvas is not only the definitive BRAID record, but also an album that practically defined the genre known today as "emo." It was recorded with J Robbins (JAWBOX) and originally released in 1998. In the past five years, the record has sold over 25,000 copies and continues to be a top back catalog seller. Frame and Canvas was recently named Alternative Press' #2 "essential emo album."![]()

| I came to know this album so much later than after its release, but in the last year I have listened to this album more than any other release I have in...well forever. Most people don't know this album exists that gave rise to all the shit that is "emo" today. This album consistently inspires me to write music. | |

| Well it's not Braid's first release it's without a doubt their definitive one. It is the realization of everything that Braid (and indeed, the whole scene at that point), was working to achieve. You can hardly listen to one of the alternative rock hits of the last few years without picking up on a strong vibe from this cult band. "Move Along" by the All-American Rejects, "From Under The Cork Tree" by Fall Out Boy, "Siren Song Of The Counter Culture" by Rise Against, "If Only You Were Lonely" by Hawthorne Heights, "Tell All Your Friends" by Taking Back Sunday, "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge" by My Chemical Romance... All just wannabes of "Frame And Canvas". If you wanna stock up on pre-corporate emo get this, "Acrobatic Tenement" by At The Drive-In, "Analphebatopolotholy" by CaPn Jazz, "End On End" by Rites Of Spring, "Diary" by Sunny Day Real Estate, "30- Everywhere" by The Promise Ring, and Christie Front Drive's self-titled album, then you can tell all the mopey Pete Wentz-worshipping n00bs to buzz off. | |

| After realizing this album was a little less math-rocky then previous releases...I was skeptical about it at first. After hearing track 4--"First Day Back," i was already forgetting those thoughts and was falling in love again. Maybe Braid's most successful album.

| My love of punk/emocore pretty much peaked 6 years ago, when I was 21. Still, I occasionally find an album that renews my faith in the genre and reminds me of why I loved punk so much in the first place, when I was younger and somewhat less jaded. This is one of those albums. Beyond the catchy melodies, tight playing, and inspiring lyrics, Braid's strongest trait is the main singer's (?) voice. It rings with sincerity and idealism like few others I've heard. A must for any serious music collection. | |

| This is what every CD aspires to be, but falls short of. This might very well be the best album in the history of recorded music, and beyond... (I'm serious... buy it NOW!) | |

| Possibly the greatest album I will ever own, BRAID's final full length album, Frame and Canvas, is sure to be (if not already) one of the most beautiful and influencial albums ever produced. It is very rare to find an LP that can hold your attention throughout each of its songs these days. Frame and Canvas however, will hold your attention and never let go. | |
