Methodrone (CD)
As Underscope says, "Shoegazers of the World Unite: You'll vibe hard on this SF band's fuzzbox-mad, acoustic/electric guitar shimmer noise experience. Dark. You can almost see the image of most blessed lead singer Anton, eyes closed and hands raised in a drone chant rapture. Winks and nods in the direction of My Bloody Valentine, Ride, the Stones, Spiritualized, Velvet Underground...ad infinitum." BAM Magazine said: "With this subconscious paean to dark souls of the Doors and Joy Division, BJM swan-dive into all manner of guitar-drone expression and narcotic-induced excursions to our spiritual secret gardens. A stunningly beautiful and powerful collection of psychedelic rock."

| BJM's debut is by far their most space rockish. Incorporating the best stylings of Spacemen 3, old Ride, and My Bloody Valentine this album is a winner through and through. I probably listened to this album at LEAST 300 times within the first month of buying it. Although the band is leaning towards poppier musical territories these days, Methodrone marks BJM's obvious roots and influences. | |
