In My Mind All the Time (LP)
VINYL FORMAT. This is good. Really good. Numbers are Eric (ex-Xerobot), Dave (ex-Xerobot), and Indra (also of Dynasty), a rock 'n' roll trio formed in the fertile post-wealth, post-rave San Francisco dot-bomb underground. They play fast primal-punk disco beats, while trading detached boy/girl vocals back and forth amidst intermittent bursts of noisy guitar and fuzzed-out buzzerk bass. They cite influences (No Wave, Gang of Four, Kraftwerk, Wire) that sound typical enough, but Numbers chew these up and spit them back out in a musical manner that's all their own. Numbers have shared stages and tour vans with fellow travelers like The Coachwhips, Erase Errata, and Cex. "Brilliant anti-capitalist critiques are so damn sexy," gushed one enamored UK reviewer, and who are we to argue with love like that?
