Black Foliage (CD)
Long-awaited reissue of The Olivia Tremor Control's ambitious, highly influential second album! This record features perfect symphonic pop songs in an elaborate tapestry of tape manipulation, free jazz, and electronics, with guest appearances by The Apples (in Stereo) and Neutral Milk Hotel. The New York Times hailed it as "the sound of timeless songwriting intersecting ancient folk orchestras in the labs of the great musique concrete pioneers."

| one of elephant 6's finest bands, Olivia Tremor Control put out another fantastic record. (double record in fact!) There are many of those beatles/beach boys pop songs that i loved from the last record, but this time around they played around with even more strange sounds. one of my favorite tracks is the one where they melt voices of various elephant sixers together in one of their tracks, including jeff from neutral milk hotel. gives me the chills! great record. | |
