In the Fishtank 12 (12")
VINYL FORMAT. In The Fishtank is the ongoing project of Konkurrent, an indie music distributor in the Netherlands. It gives musicians two days studio time to do whatever they like musically. On this release, Karate wanted to play thematic pieces, all critical of America in some way. The songs they chose were Billy Holiday's "Strange Fruit", Bob Dylan's "Tears Of Rage", Mark Hollis' "A New Jeruselem", and four Minutemen up-tempo rockers. Each song has a very natural feel; it grooves, it rocks, it's delicate, and it shows Geoff Farina as a relaxed and soulful crooner. These Fishtank recordings became more or less the perfect sparring partner for Karate to prepare themselves for Pockets, their latest album. Great session.
