Bang Bang Rock & Roll (CD)
#12 Seller of 2005! UK IMPORT THAT RECEIVED AN 8.9 ON PITCHFORK! "Fronted by terminal ranter Eddie Argos - a man keen to state "yes this is my singing voice, it's not irony" mid-song - Art Brut are a curious prospect.
Part irreverent, part introverted, part cocksure yet with an appealing hint of vulnerability, they pepper this debut album with staccato blasts of shambling pop and touching paeans to love unrequited.
Taking a Fall-like stream of unconsciousness approach to lyrics, Argos and co have an enthusiasm that is both admirable and infectious.
Couple this to an almost irritating knack for penning catchy tunes and the debate concerning whether Art Brut are art rock, art punk or simply art statement becomes irrelevant: Bang Bang Rock And Roll is, simply, top entertainment." - Manchester Online

| I give this album a rating of "C" because it is simply average. There is no above and beyond, nor anything truly interesting about this album. It's mindless, catchy, and very "rock n' roll," but there's no substance. My little brother just discovered rock and roll? Look at us -- we formed a band? Perhaps the hipster appeal behind this band is the fact that it sounds like a group of 5th graders wrote the songs. I don't get the hype. | |

| Horribly boring and overrated. Every rant against record labels or coolness falls flat (this IS a hip band, remember) and the songs about girls rings false. Marginally better than the Kaiser Chiefs or Arctic Monkeys. | |
