Elf Power return with their Rykodisc debut, Back to the Web, a haunting, twisting journey weaving its way through heavy psychedelic haze, to soulful, melodic folk, to stomping T Rex-styled rock. Back to the Web is full of the band's signature, lovely pop melodies, but a distinct progression is evident in the songwriting and the lush, full production. The folkier tunes are laced with strings and the heavier ones scream psychedelia; influences of Bob Dylan and Wall-era Pink Floyd can be detected.

User Reviews

Andy Insound - New York, NY,
The band's strongest record since Creature splits their influences nicely. An even temper between their harder fuzzed out rockers and their earlier folk obsessions. Back to the Web is fraught with tension and a looming sense of darkness on the horizon.

Eric Perkins - Waltham, MA, USA
Whether or not you like this album depends on what kind of Elf Power fan you are. My favorite Elf Power albums are (in no particular order) "A Dream in Sound", "Walking with the Beggar Boys", and "The Winter is Coming." My least favorite are "Creatures" and "When the Red King Comes." This album definitely falls into this latter camp stylistically. It's still Elf Power, so it's good, but not one of their more accessible efforts.
