| Even though the Jesus and mary Chain would create many more great singles and a couple of good to great albums, Psychocandy represented a peak that the band could never equal. It is the first and (along with Loveless ala My bloody Valentine) the best noise-pop album ever. The idea itself doesn't sound too crazy; simple beach-boys melody meets wall of screeching feedback/distortion. The over-all effect is amazing, though. A wall of never ending, melodically and lyrically interchangeable pop songs wrapped in buzzing guitars and the Reid brothers' casual, nonchalant vocal delivery about sex, drugs, and ..sex. The tribal drumbeats remain constant throughout while the differing mixes of feedback add just enough variety to the songs. Yeah, it won't challenge your mind, but it will challenge your noise tolerance and your stereo. And it's unbelievably catchy at the same time. One of my all-time favorites. | |

| A phenomenal album- probably my favorite ever. I first heard this when I was in high school in the mid '80's, and it still sounds fresh today. I can still get a chill when "The Living End" kicks in... | |
