PUBLIC PLACES IS NOT MERELY A GENIUS SOLO DRUMMER WORK ON A PAR WITH SUCH CLASSICS AS PETER CRISS' FIRST SOLO ALBUM OR HERMANN RAREBELL'S HERMANN ZE GERMANN, IT IS MUCH MORE & OH SO MUCH MORE:
I mean, as thoroughly amazing and immortal as those masterpieces were (are?), they simply did not feature engineering, producing and songwriting contributions from Jamey Staub (Everlast); vocals and keyboards from ex-Luscious Jackson and current Dusty Trails chanteuse Vivian Trimble; the bass, guitar and sampler savvy of Rick Lee and additional vocals from Cibo Matto's Miho Hatori (both of whom collaborated with Russell on the classic Butter 08 LP and project) and Mike D (who didn't).
Anyway, Public Places is a great fuckin' record that veers all over the musical map. Just like Russell. Just like New York. Check it out. Thoroughly.
