Morse Code in the Modern Age: Across the Americas (CD)
This phenomenal follow-up to 1999¹s popular and critically acclaimed Field Recordings From the Cook County Water Table exercises some of Chicago¹s most famous collaborators. Doug McCombs¹ (Eleventh Dream Day, Tortoise, Pullman) solo project is now made a duo with the addition of bassist Noel Kupersmith (Chicago Underground Quartet). The new EP explores further collaborative territory, as Brokeback are joined by friends from Yo La Tengo, Stereolab, Run On, and Cat Power plus the Calexico duo of Joey Burns and John Convertino.
The CD also features film footage by director Braden King (Dutch Harbor: Where the Sea Breaks its Back). Doug played in The Boxhead Ensemble, the indie supergoup that enabled the film to tour both rock clubs and film festivals, thus gaining nationwide exposure in a unique and effective fashion.
