Professor Murder's sound is as informed by hip-hop, bootleg mixtapes, downloaded mp3s and club nights, as it is by 70's and 80's post-punk. In early 2005 the band nixed the guitar and from their line-up which pushed them to rethink their music from the ground up. Their aim was to create a sound that distilled the many disparate soundtracks to their lives in New York City. The result, as captured with the help of Brothers Studio producers, is a rythm-heavy dance sound littered with reggae, funk, and hip-hop. After you pick up the album, you'll want to check them out live - it's one big dance party!

Honestly the best CD I've heard this year. A great change of pace from typical indie rock. No guitar, bass driven tracks. great CD, too short.

I bought this cd because of the Mr. Show reference in their band name, sight unseen. Majorly disappointed. Sounds like if The Killers and !!! had an illegitimate love child. Not that there's anything wrong with !!!, but this sound is so done now and done better by many other bands before them. Save your money for the next Bloc Party cd or whatever the kids are buying today.

Happy Hardcore. Cerebral without being snobbish, comprehensive yet handy, Professor Murder's music melds the dance-club and indie-rock styles in n-ways. You can dance to almost anything here, but between breaths, you'll be amazed with their electro beats and the way each sound bangs explosively. That smile will have a difficult time leaving your face. A captivating, sparkling electro pop of mashed up beats, mind blowing bass lines and bobs ("Cameron's New Color pt.3")... Avoiding categories, they ingeniously combine elements of pop, rock, club, bootleg mixtapes, hip-hop, 70s & 80s post-punk and electro into one remarkably cohesive whole. Professor Murder Rides The Subway is one of the most joyous and poignant party albums I've ever heard. Mike, Tony, Jesse and Andy refine their open-minded influences into an inventive and fresh energy you can feel in each beat they provide for indie party people ("Free Stress Test"). A festive masterpiece of sun-kissed disco-pop. They ride, they drive, they ROCK! I'm in love! 10 out of 10
