Here We Go Magic - A Different Ship
Here in New York at least, summer has arrived with a serious one-two-(three?) punch. And we reel from the blow, Here We Go Magic's latest full length seems a fitting soundtrack. Picture this: AC on, lemonade in hand, A Different Ship on the turntable. Just a bit of sunlight filters in through the blinds. Perhaps there are children shouting in the distance, playing in the open fire hydrant around the corner. The distant chimes of an ice cream truck are just audible as well. But you are safely ensconced in your cocoon of artificially chilled air and darkness and some of the most pleasant sounds to grace our ears this year. Luke Temple's vocals are never shouty or angry, the musicians never unhinged- and while sometimes you need those things, sometime you don't. This is one of those times. Hop on A Different Ship, and float away...
