Future Islands / Ed Schrader's Music Beat - Split
Monday’s blog will now feature our “Band of the Week.” What does this mean? It means that you can save 15% on everything we carry by that artist including LPs, CDs and merch!
I have to admit that I’m still not over my initial obsession with Future Islands’ most recent album On the Water. Yes, I know it’s been almost a year since its release but I think that the length of time I’ve had to listen and examine it and the fact that I’m still infatuated with almost every song on the album speaks to the quality of the music and Sam Herring’s ability to leave a lasting impression with his listener. So when I heard that Famous Class Records was releasing a split 7-inch featuring Future Islands and Ed Schrader’s Music Beat I knew I would finally have some new material to fawn over. And as expected Future Islands does not disappoint and delivers a beautiful/classic Future Islands’ song that I can picture appearing on In Evening Air.
The awesome thing about this split 7-inch series, the first was A Place to Bury Strangers b/w Ceremony, is that Famous Class Records allows the a-side band to pick an up-and-coming band they are fans of to complete the b-side recordings. In this case, Future Islands picked another Baltimore band, Ed Schrader’s Music Beat, to showcase their tunes and expose them to an audience they might not have had access to had it not been for this series. There are six total 7-inches planned for the series so keep an eye out for them because if they’re anything like the first two releases we are in for some treats.
