Between the hundreds of music submissions we get per week and the new bands and labels we're always reaching out to, we stumble upon some really great stuff. Each week, we will be picking one lesser-known band that we particularly love. This week, Andy French lounges before the fireplace on a bearskin rug with Real Estate.
As the weather turns cold and the gripping darkness that follows begins to dampen even the brightest spirits, we'll all need a band like Real Estate to brighten our days. Their low-key shuffle seems to perfectly exude the warm and lazy days of summer. Not the hot, brutal, beating days of August but the gentle frizzle of a June sun baking down on crowds too busy to appreciate it.
The boys have paid their dues all year long and now that their debut album is finally upon us its time to let your turntable glow like a beacon in the stifling winter, emanating waves of calm from Real Estate's guitars. I'm pretty sure that there's going to be nothing better this winter than a cup of cocoa and Real Estate.
