2003, Manifesto
Based in San Francisco, [the] caseworker is conor jonathan (guitars, vocals) and eimer devlin (bass, vocals). Formerly of HALF FILM, the "pop" duo put out a handful of haunting, minimalist records a couple of years ago, followed by a world tour garnering the attention of the press. After Half Film broke up they asked their good friend Monte Vallier (formerly of Swell) to record and produce a collection of new songs they'd written. They then recruited Sean Kirkpatrick - the former drummer from Swell - and thus [the] caseworker was born. The resulting album is called these weeks should be remembered, and took over a year to put together. The ten songs are lush, spacious, colorful and atmospheric; sometimes sounding like a doze under the palm trees, other times like a highway at night, with fear in your stomach. Imagine a moodier Yo La Tengo, or The Radar Bros.
